Coronavirus update

Christ Church has taken the reluctant, but necessary decision, to suspend Sunday meetings.  There will not be any services, from and including this weekend, 22 March 2020, until advised otherwise.  This also applies to all church groups, including the Lent Course which we were hoping to continue to run.

Obviously this is sad news, and not what we would desire. But, it is required in the light of what we now about the limiting the spread of COVID-19, and upon advice from the Government and the Church of England (see the Archbishop's message here).

As the Parish Church of Virginia Water, we remain eager to be “in the community, for the community, to the glory of God” and to take every opportunity to “know Jesus and make Jesus known”.

In practice this shall include:

  • Providing opportunities to join “virtual worship” via livestream, see link at

  • Updating you with news, devotional readings and prayers through electronic communication

  • Offering continued pastoral care via telephone

  • Encouraging practical ways to help you connect with your neighbours, showing love and care

  • Communicating - Whilst the Church will be closed for church and community meetings, we will monitor the phone and make ourselves available in whatever way possible

  • Seeking God diligently: We will pray, and humbly seek God, asking for his mercy, grace and healing; and putting to Jesus, our rescuer, redeemer, friend and friend.

Simon Vibert on behalf of the Staff, PCC and Pastoral Team.
